“Everybody get their float on. Everybody, everybody get their float on!” This little (remixed) diddy was humming through my head as I walked into True Rest Float Spa located in Powell, Ohio.
Where did it all begin? Well in truth, I never heard of floating until a very good friend of mine told me about his experience. I was immediately intrigued because I have a great interest in alternative health methods. After completing my own preliminary research and going through a very stressful week at work, I decided to take the plunge!
Is a hard day of work really all it should take to lead one to the float spa? In my case it was because the claimed benefits were exactly what I was looking for to recover from the mayhem that was my week (we’ve all been there). Reduction in pain, stress, cortisol and adrenaline levels, are just a few benefits that floaters boast of receiving, and I wanted to chance to experience every single one. There was only one thing I could do – book an appointment online so that I could officially get my float on.
You’ll need to arrive 30 minutes prior to your first visit so that you can fill out all necessary paperwork. You’ll be moved into the relaxation room to listen to mellow music and a video designed to begin the winding down process of the analytical part of the brain. An introductory video is also shown to familiarize us newbies on what to expect when floating.
The pods each contain 10 inches of water and 1000 lbs of sodium that the body floats in effortlessly. The pods are in private rooms that also contain a shower with products on the wall to use before and after your float. Close your eyes, and get ready to experience a new level of sensory freedom!
After floating, clients can journey to the lounge that offers tea, water, and oxygen. Yes, oxygen.
Final Verdict? I’m a Float Fan! I love the way it made me feel – relaxed and refreshed simultaneously. The staff I interacted with – Sara and Tina were simply adorable. They answered all my questions and held my hand every step of the way! Needless to say, floating is something I will definitely experience again. While you’re out there getting your roll on, make sure to get your float on too.
