Over the years my coffee palette has developed from ‘a little bit of coffee with my sugar and cream’ to pour-overs straight up black, no sugar please. I’m talking about that grown folk, hair-on-chest, not for the faint of heart, this isn’t a game cup of brew.
I find myself constantly fascinated by the various methods that coffee can be brewed, served, and enjoyed as I delve into a world that is become increasingly familiar to me. Credit is certainly due to every kind and patient barista in the city who dealt with my onslaught of questions as I unravel the mystery as to how these little bitty beans provide the type of happiness reserved for Skittles. As I press onward in my journey to explore every single coffee house in this beautiful city, my quest landed me at Red Velvet Cafe in Pickerington, an East Side suburb in Columbus, Ohio. I felt quite privileged to spend some time chatting with Reuel Cruz, the owner, whose knowledge of coffee is absolutely phenomenal. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just passing along Rt. 256, plan your next break at Red Velvet Cafe!
Whipping servings of coffee like a skilled matador, Reuel also provides tasty entrees sure to tickle your taste buds.
Red Velvet Cafe also serves smack delicious cupcakes, AAANNNNDDD, the flavors change daily! Boasting one of the largest cupcake selections in the city, visitors can expect choices like maple bacon, salted caramel, cheesecake, and taro.
2015 is sure to be an exciting year for the Red Velvet brand as plans to open a second location downtown are underway. While the Pickerington location brings exotic creations to the ‘burbs, the new location is sure to bring an urban flare to the downtown cafe segment. While Red Velvet Cafe doesn’t have a dedicated url, their social media presence is solid as a rock! Hit these good folks up on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
